2012 Cleanskin Sheep Australia Symposium
"Taking Your Enterprise to the Next Level"

Venue
The Symposium is changing venue in 2012!
The new location of the 2012 Symposium is the Ridley Centre, Adelaide
Showground. The change in venue will enable complete air-conditioning and a
more prestigious presentation which will increase the comfort of our
attendees and the profile of the Symposium.

Program
This year CSA have introduced "Question & Answer" panels and breakout
sessions to the program covering a range of topics that will assist
you in taking your enterprise to the next level. You have the ability to
listen to key speakers as well as
choose a number of breakout sessions making sure you get to hear
the information you want.
We've also included an introduction to a new cleanskin / fleece shedding
breed in Australia.
The program will run between 8am and 4pm each day, with a dinner
available at an additional cost on the Thursday evening.

Dr
Geoff Pollott
Senior Lecturer, Bioinformations &
Genetics, University of London (UK)
Topic: "The selection process for achieving full shedding"
Based on findings working alongside commercial sheep breeding groups
interested in wool shedding and his resultant paper, "A suggested mode
of inheritance for wool shedding in sheep" (2011), Dr Pollott will
address the Symposium on the genetics of wool shedding (in producer terms)
and selecting to achieve full shedding.
Dr Pollot's findings include that wool shedding in sheep is initially
controlled by one dominant "switch" gene, which was discovered by
testing non-shedding and shedding animals from Wiltshire Horn and
Easycare cross sheep.

Jason Trompf
Producer & Lifetime Ewe Management Program
Co-Author
Topic: "Lifetime Ewe Management"
Dr Trompf is a wool and lamb producer, an Honorary Research
Fellow with the Department of Agricultural Sciences at La Trobe
University, and the current Chairman of BESTWOOL/BESTLAMB which
delivers economic, environmental and social benefits to wool and
sheep meat producers. Dr Trompf co-authored and developed the Lifetime
Ewe Management Program (LTEM) which assists producers to improve their
understanding of ewe nutrition and management.

James Rowe
Chief Executive Officer, SheepCRC
Topic: "Sheep CRC - What / Why / How?"
Professor James Rowe holds a PhD in animal nutrition. His
research on sheep and cattle production has resulted in a number of new
products and innovative feeding systems. In 2002 Professor Rowe was
appointed CEO for the Australian Sheep Industry CRC and currently holds
the position of CEO with Sheep CRC Ltd. Professor Rowe will address the
Symposium on the role of the SheepCRC in the Australian sheep industry.

Topic: "Profit Drivers in Top Businesses"
Ken Solly is an Agribusiness Consultant and works with the
farming sector across Australia in the fields of Business Consulting,
Individual and Group Capacity Building, Agribusiness Education and
Training, and Agritourism. The main thrust of Ken's work is to train and
empower individuals and businesses to manage their affairs more
profitably and assist in creating better futures.

Agricuture and Food WA (DAFWA)
Topic: "Results of WA Dorper Trial"
Ken Hart is a Research Officer for the Department of
Agriculture and Food WA (DAFWA). He is the site scientist for the Sheep
CRC's Information Nucleus Flock sites in Katanning and the Dorper site
in Narrogin. He is also managing the roll our of the next generation of
Information Nucleus - IN2 at the Katanning site. Ken feels that while
the Information Nucleus has produced exciting results for the sheep
industry, the IN2 will be bigger, better and even more exciting for
industry.

Registration cost for attendance

Registrations are now open and close Friday, 24th February 2012.

Trade Display Booths
Trade Display booths are
available to any industry or enterprise involved in
or linked to the cleanskin / fleece shedding industry.
Trade Display booths will be located in the Ridley Centre and
Wayville Pavilio (download map of area).

General Animal
Displays
General displays of animals are
available for cleanskin / fleece shedding breeders wanting to
promote their breed / stock. Animals entered for display may be
sold privately during the Symposium. It is a requirement
that all display animals have NLIS PIC tags. Any animal sold
must be accompanied by a NVD and Animal Health Statement.
Each display provides a pen approximately 2.5m x 2.5m for a
maximum of four animals.
